PAYFARGO

COOKIE POLICY

Version 1.0

This Cookie Policy explains how PayFarGo, LLC uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on the PayFarGo Platform.

Cookie Policy at a Glance

  • We use cookies to keep the Platform running, secure, and easy to use.
  • Some cookies are strictly necessary and cannot be switched off.
  • Other cookies require your consent; you can manage your preferences at any time through our Cookie Settings.
  • We do not sell cookie data or use cookies to serve third-party advertising.
  • Questions? Email us at privacy@payfargo.com.

1. WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device—computer, smartphone, or tablet—when you visit a website or use a mobile application. They help websites run efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide useful information to the site operator.

In addition to traditional cookies, we may use similar technologies, including:

  • Web beacons (also called “pixel tags” or “clear GIFs”)—tiny images embedded in web pages or emails that help us understand how users interact with our content.
  • Local storage objects (LSOs / HTML5 storage)—data stored in your browser outside of cookies that works in a similar way.
  • Device fingerprinting—a technique that identifies a device by its characteristics, used for fraud prevention and security.
  • SDKs (Software Development Kits)—code embedded in our mobile app that performs a function similar to cookies on mobile devices.

Throughout this policy, “cookies” refers collectively to all of these technologies unless stated otherwise.

2. WHO SETS COOKIES ON OUR PLATFORM?

Cookies on the PayFarGo Platform are set by two categories of parties:

  • First-party cookies: Set directly by PayFarGo, Inc. to operate and secure the Platform and to remember your preferences.
  • Third-party cookies: Set by our trusted service providers and partners—such as analytics providers, fraud-prevention services, and payment processors. These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review.

3. CATEGORIES OF COOKIES WE USE

We group our cookies into four categories based on their purpose. Section 4 maps each specific cookie to one of these categories.

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential to the Platform and cannot be switched off. They are triggered by actions you take such as logging in, completing a transaction, or saving your privacy preferences—and do not store personally identifiable information beyond what is needed for session management. They do not require your consent, although blocking them through your browser may prevent the Platform from functioning correctly. They include:

  • Session authentication and secure login tokens.
  • Load balancing and server routing for Platform stability.
  • Security and fraud-detection tokens (e.g. CSRF protection).
  • Transaction state management (e.g. keeping a transfer in progress during your session).
  • Storage of your cookie consent preferences.
3.2 Functional Cookies

Functional cookies allow the Platform to remember the choices you make and deliver a more personalised experience. They may be set by us or by third-party providers. They include:

  • Your preferred language and currency display settings.
  • Recently used recipient details, to speed up future transactions.
  • Your region or country selection.
  • Live chat and customer support features.
3.3 Analytics and Performance Cookies

These cookies collect anonymised, aggregated information about how visitors use the Platform; for example, which pages are visited most often and whether error messages appear. We use this data to improve how the Platform works. They include:

  • Counting visits and traffic sources to measure and improve Platform performance.
  • Understanding which features are most and least popular.
  • Identifying technical errors and slow-loading pages.
  • A/B testing to evaluate Platform improvements.
3.4 Security and Fraud-Prevention Cookies

Because PayFarGo facilitates the transfer of financial funds, we place particular weight on security. These cookies help us:

  • Detect and prevent fraudulent login attempts and account takeovers.
  • Identify unusual transaction patterns that may indicate money laundering or fraud.
  • Verify the integrity of your session across the Platform.
  • Meet our AML and KYC obligations under U.S. federal and state law.
  • Maintain audit trails for regulatory compliance.

Security and fraud-prevention cookies may persist beyond your session and may use device-level identifiers. Their use is necessary to fulfil our legal obligations as a licensed Money Services Business and to protect you and other users from harm.

4. LEGAL BASIS FOR USING COOKIES

Our use of cookies rests on the following legal bases under applicable U.S. and international law.

4.1 Strictly Necessary and Security Cookies—Legitimate Interest / Legal Obligation

We use strictly necessary and security cookies on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure and compliant remittance platform, and our legal obligations as a registered Money Services Business under the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation E, and applicable state money transmission laws. These cookies do not require your consent.

4.2 Functional and Analytics Cookies—Consent

We rely on your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent to set functional and analytics cookies. You may grant or withdraw consent at any time through our Cookie Settings panel, accessible from the footer of the Platform. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that occurred before withdrawal.

4.3 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. PayFarGo does not sell cookie data. To the extent any analytics cookies constitute “sharing” under California law, you may opt out through our Cookie Settings or by submitting a request to privacy@payfargo.com.

4.4 Other State Privacy Laws

Users in Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Texas (TDPSA), and other states with applicable privacy laws have the right to opt out of certain processing enabled by cookies. These rights can be exercised through our Cookie Settings panel.

5. YOUR COOKIE CHOICES AND CONTROLS

5.1 Cookie Settings Panel

The easiest way to manage your cookie preferences is through our Cookie Settings panel, accessible at any time from the link in the footer of our website or within the app settings. The panel allows you to accept or reject non-essential cookies by category.

5.2 Browser-Level Controls

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:

  • View and delete cookies already stored on your device.
  • Block all cookies or cookies from specific websites.
  • Set your browser to alert you when a cookie is set.
  • Use private or incognito mode, which generally discards cookies when the session ends.

Please note that blocking cookies may affect your ability to use the Platform. In particular, blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or completing transactions. For guidance on managing cookies in popular browsers:

  • iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
  • Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads (or as applicable to your device manufacturer).
  • In-app: Profile > Privacy Settings > Cookie & Tracking Preferences.
5.4 Opt Out of Analytics

To opt out of Google Analytics across all websites, you may install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. To opt out of internal PayFarGo analytics, use the Cookie Settings panel.

5.5 Do Not Track (DNT)

Some browsers transmit a “Do Not Track” signal. There is currently no agreed industry standard for responding to these signals, and the Platform does not alter its behaviour based on a DNT signal. We encourage you to use our Cookie Settings panel to express your tracking preferences directly.

6. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES AND EXTERNAL LINKS

6.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We work with carefully selected third-party service providers who may set cookies on the Platform. These currently include:

  • Google Analytics—Platform performance and user behaviour analytics. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
  • Intercom—Customer support live-chat widget. Privacy policy: intercom.com/legal/privacy
  • Sift Science—Fraud detection and risk assessment. Privacy policy: sift.com/legal/privacy-policy
  • Plaid—Bank account verification for ACH payments. Privacy policy: plaid.com/legal/privacy-notice
  • Stripe—Payment processing and fraud prevention. Privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy
6.2 External Links

The Platform may contain links to external websites. When you follow a link to an external site, that site may set its own cookies. PayFarGo has no control over, and is not responsible for, cookies set by external websites. This Cookie Policy applies only to the PayFarGo Platform.

7. DATA RETENTION AND COOKIE LIFESPANS

Cookies fall into two broad categories based on how long they remain on your device:

  • Session cookies—Temporary cookies that expire and are deleted when you close your browser or end the app session. Most of our strictly necessary cookies are session cookies.
  • Persistent cookies—Cookies that remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. We use persistent cookies for functional settings, fraud prevention, and analytics.

Even after a cookie expires or is deleted from your device, PayFarGo may retain data collected through that cookie in its systems for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes—in accordance with our Privacy Policy at www.payfargo.com/privacy-policy.

8. COOKIES AND FINANCIAL REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

As a licensed Money Services Business, PayFarGo is subject to strict regulatory requirements under U.S. federal and state law, including:

  • Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)—31 U.S.C. § 5311 et seq.: We are required to maintain records that support the detection and reporting of suspicious activity, which may be facilitated by security and fraud-prevention cookies.
  • USA PATRIOT Act—Customer Identification Program (CIP): Device data collected via cookies supports our identity verification and KYC procedures.
  • Dodd-Frank Act / Regulation E: Session and transaction-state cookies are integral to delivering the pre-payment disclosures required by law.
  • State Money Transmission Laws: Security cookie data may form part of the audit trail we are required to maintain under applicable state licensing conditions.

Data collected for regulatory compliance is retained for such periods as required by law, which may exceed the standard cookie lifespan. This data is not used for marketing or advertising purposes.

9. CHILDREN AND COOKIES

The PayFarGo Platform is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly set cookies on the devices of minors, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through cookies. If you believe a child has used the Platform and provided us with data, please contact us at privacy@payfargo.com and we will promptly delete the relevant information and any associated cookie data.

10. UPDATES TO THIS COOKIE POLICY

PayFarGo may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on the Platform and updating the Effective Date at the top of this document. For significant changes that affect your rights, we will provide additional notice by email or through a prominent banner on the Platform.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Platform after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Cookie Policy.
